Questions
- Is this a safety system?
- No. It controls whether a press is permitted to run against production rules. It does not replace guarding, light curtains, two hand controls or any safety rated circuit, and it is not a substitute for them.
- What happens if the command does not reach the press?
- The command is recorded as failed or timed out rather than silently dropped, so a press that did not respond is visible rather than assumed.
- Can a supervisor override an automatic lock?
- Yes. Overrides are deliberate, and the approval is recorded with who made it and when.
- Does the interlock need new controls on the press?
- No. It uses a wired line into the machine alongside the signals already read for run status and production count.
