Most manufacturing software watches a press and tells you afterwards. Crimson holds a wired line into the machine, so a production rule can stop it. Most locks and unlocks are decided by the system without waiting for anyone, and every command is recorded with what actually happened to it.

Questions

Is this a safety system?
No. It controls whether a press is permitted to run against production rules. It does not replace guarding, light curtains, two hand controls or any safety rated circuit, and it is not a substitute for them.
What happens if the command does not reach the press?
The command is recorded as failed or timed out rather than silently dropped, so a press that did not respond is visible rather than assumed.
Can a supervisor override an automatic lock?
Yes. Overrides are deliberate, and the approval is recorded with who made it and when.
Does the interlock need new controls on the press?
No. It uses a wired line into the machine alongside the signals already read for run status and production count.
